![]() ![]() ![]() Here is the Flume sensor unit mounted on the water gauge meter. I brought out the tablet to take a picture of the meter for them. So after installing their app and signing up with their web page where the water info will be stored it was time to go out and mount the water sensor on his water main gauge in this hole. Of course I took the wrong box then the one they asked for first as I didn’t read carefully so I messed up and was stuck as I couldn’t correct the mistake, so I set up another account and did it right and we were going again. The Flume 2 app also wanted me to take some pictures of the barcodes on each of their boxes so I had to figure out how to do that with the tablet. So here’s the new tablet and the Flume 2 water sensing units on the right. So we tried and tried different things and finally Google let us in so now the tablet would function as it should and we could get to installing the Fume 2 unit. Google said this is a new device and not recognized and we couldn’t get signed in to his account to get the tablet to work so we could get the Flume app at the Google store. Like most people my brothers password book was pretty screwed up. First we needed to get the new tablet recognized by Google. Getting the tablet to workĪnyway back to our project. I’ll have to try some other place for my chicken seeds. I was amazed he still remembered me and we had a good bull session. I knew the owner, many years ago and met him at the door. Well, that feed store didn’t work out as they don’t carry seeds which I feed my chickens to stay away from corn. So today I drove on over to Healdsburg to check on a feed store as my old feed store went out of business. Neither one of us knows how to use the tablet, although it’s like my cell phone that I rarely use. To monitor it he also needs some kind of device like a cell phone but he doesn’t have one of those that goes on the internet, so we ordered up a new tablet to do the job. So the city will give him a rebate on this water monitoring system, called a Flume 2 and he just received it. He has a lot of citrus in his yard so to keep them alive and not get a big fine he needs to know how much water he’s using as he using it. ![]() My brother Mike asked me to help him set up his new water meter as the city he lives in has some real strict water rationing. ![]()

![]() If you made the art too small, you’ll either have to print/view the art smaller than you’d like, or scale it up and get blurring or artifacts. The issues of a canvas size too small come after finishing the painting either in viewing or printing the image at full size. These can be separated into 2 situations, either having a canvas that is too small, or one that’s too big: Consequence of canvas size too smallĪ smaller canvas means your software will run smoother. Since 300DPI is the norm for printing and modern screens are already at 250PPI, I recommend setting 300 DPI/PPI for everything you paint, unless you have a specific reason not to.Ī few problems can emerge if you don’t pay attention to your canvas size, both during the painting process and afterward. 300 is the standard DPI for printing a digital painting.ħ2 PPI was the norm for screens, but now with high pixel density screens like phones and tablets, it is more like 250 PPI. A lot of software will also use the term DPI when setting up your canvas size, even if you don’t plan on printing it. Sometimes these terms are used interchangeably, so someone may use DPI when speaking of viewing the image on a screen, or PPI when talking about printing, which can be a little confusing. That same canvas of 300x300 would print out as 1 inch tall and wide when printed at 300DPI. PPI (pixels per inch) is how many pixels are in 1 inch when viewed on a screen, so on a monitor of 150PPI, a canvas that’s 300 pixels tall and 300 wide will appear to be 2 inches tall.ĭPI (dots per inch) is similar, but it's how many ‘ pixels’ are in 1 inch when printed. In the softwares used for digital painting, the painting area is typically known as the canvas. I’m going to have to start off by explaining a few terms, so that the numbers I share later make sense to everyone. These links will give you 1 month of Skillshare for free - more than enough time to watch the class you're interested in, and probably enough time to watch a few more. They are all by respected artists that teach their software well: Intro to Procreate by Brooke Glaser Photoshop Demystified by Gabrielle Brickey Introduction to Clip Studio Paint by Asia Noble Krita: Basic Level by Widhi Muttaqien If you've recently started making digital art and you're figuring out the basics, I can personally recommend these courses over on Skillshare to help you figure things out faster. Read on for an explanation of these numbers, why you don’t want to get your canvas size wrong, and an in-depth list of the standard canvas sizes for multiple different purposes. ![]() This is obviously simplified a lot, but it works as a general rule. A canvas size of more than 6000 pixels on the long side isn’t usually needed, unless you want to print it poster-sized. If you want to print your digital art, your canvas should be a minimum of 3300 by 2550 pixels. ![]() This will look good on most modern phones and pc monitors. Here’s my general rule of thumb: If you just want to show it on the internet and on social media, a good canvas size for digital art is a minimum of 2000 pixels on the long side, and 1200 pixels on the short side. I did a lot of research into what canvas size and resolution I should use for a whole bunch of different purposes, and I rarely run into issues any more. Sometimes it would work out fine, but other times it would lead me into frustrating issues with the painting further down the road. Each time I started a new digital painting, I used to basically guess at what size the canvas should be. ![]() ![]() Please note that these Event Planners may also travel to Taftville, Preston, Yantic, Oakdale, Bozrah, Versailles, Montville, Ledyard, Lisbon, Baltic, Uncasville, Mashantucket, Gales Ferry, Gilman, Jewett City, Hanover, Quaker Hill, North Franklin, Griswold, Lebanon, Salem, Old Mystic, Voluntown, North Stonington, South Windham, Scotland, West Mystic, Waterford, Windham, and Mystic. Instead you could set up an error function (in this case it would be "how much a crosshair color would be contrasting a given angle's background"), and then you would need to solve for the crosshair color, that would mininize the square of the error function accross all recorded angles. This becomes apparent with more colors involved - generally "averaging colors" is not a trivial thing. Then you would be contrasting against a gray background, yet that is never the case. ![]() Imagine that you collect 10 angles where the background is pitch black, and 10 where your background is clean white. However, there seems to be a slight issue with your methodology. I haven't uploaded the data, but you can collect your own with relative ease, just use like OBS or something if you want to.įirst, I really love your approach and the work you have put into this. big angles) more would impact the decisions, but I'm overthinking this enough as it is.ĮDIT: Since a solid chunk of you are interested in the actual specifics, here's a link to a Github repository with the script and some basic instructions to get started. It'd be cool to see how considering multiple dominant colors per frame, or weighting specific important frames (e.g. I'm not a color person, so it's entirely possible this is a super bad choice, but idk. From here, I just inverted the color and maximized the saturation and value of the color to make it as bright as possible. If I was analyzing multiple maps, I computed the colors for every map, then averaged all of those averages together (this makes sure that each map equally contributes to the average "game color"). This color was then collected for every frame in the map and averaged to get the overall "color of the map". From there I used OpenCV to load each video frame by frame, then used PIL and K-Means to extract the dominant color from a specific cropped section of the image (usually a square crop around the center of the image). I collected the videos by running around in customs without a crosshair and recording the video with OBS you could get colors from game files but I'm not nearly that smart. Long story short, it's a bunch of OpenCV, PIL, and NumPy thrown together in an abomination to all software engineering. Ok, a bit of a crash course in how I actually wrote this script. The data I gathered was pretty sparse and it'd be interesting to see how these choices fare when considering smokes/util/etc., but I digress.Įnd of the day I may still suck at this game, but it's not because my crosshair is bad. In any case, the crosshair colors I found work well enough, so it'd be cool to see if anyone else can find a better solution based on this. However, the blue trend is enough to noticeably shift the overall color to a sky blue, which is cool to see. Icebox and Pearl are the only real exceptions to this rule, using bright yellows/reds respectively. There's a couple of interesting patterns here Cyan/Blue is a very common choice of color, especially for Ascent, Bind, Breeze, Fracture, and Haven. Split: may or may not have gotten too lazy to collect data here Too many custom games and a quick Python script later, I came up with a list of crosshair colors that contrasted as much as possible with each map, as well as an overall crosshair color that attempts to work for every map. So instead of playing the game and finding my preferences like a normal person, I recorded myself in customs looking at every angle I could think of on every map (except Split RIP) and wrote a Python script to look through that video find the best crosshair color for me. When Patch 5.04 dropped and crosshair craziness happened, I decided to try and find the best possible crosshair color in Valorant based on video from actual Valorant gameplay. ![]() ![]() Reply reply WatermelonJustice PlayerRotator is the mod that allows people to fluidly turn upside down in vrc.
